New Forum

Iv been contacted recently by people saying that they cant create an account on this forum and unfortunately at the moment it does look like the registrations are closed. I suspect (although iv not asked so Im not 100% sure) that its to do with spam which is most unfortunate.

So we have built a forum specifically for JDast (& any other software i might release). I shall be keeping a close eye out for spammers both using anti spam/bot measures and personally, we shall see how we go.

New forum :-

3 Feature Requests.

Hey Ashley,

I just found this software today and it is almost exactly what I have been searching for. Thank you very much for app. I wanted to see how hard it would be or if its not already possible to do any of these.

1. Automatically export results on a specfic time basis, like once a day to a csv file.
2. If possible be able to send this csv file via an email.
3. This one I will explain the need in a second. Be able to set a threshold at a particular level.

Here is what I am trying to setup. I work at an ISP and have particular sites that I have a need to make sure my bandwidth is not dipping during peek time. So I want to setup a computer that runs your software to do a speed test every 10-30 mins. If the speedtest results fall below say 4MB an email would be dispatched to me letting me know the result.

I would also like to have this so that once a day or week even if the speedtest results are running good, to have the CSV files exported and sent via email for review. I plan on setting this up at several remote un-manned sites.

Thanks for your consideration.

Order Tracking keeps requesting MAC Code

After placing my order on Sunday evening I was able to track the progress of my Sky Broadband and Sky Talk order.

After the order was accepted on Monday (and receiving my MAC Code from O2), the Order Tracking in My Sky started asking me for my MAC Code, popped it in and hit submit and was presented with a "Thank You, Your MAC Code has been successfully validated. Please check back in around 24 hours to check the progress of your Broadband order".

So I checked again Tuesday, and was prompted to enter my MAC Code again. So I popped it in again and received the same Successful message I received on Monday.

Checked again on the Wednesday to find it once again requesting a MAC Code, so I just left it lol. After seeing today that it was still asking for a code I've decided to call Sky.

Now hopefully this is of use to some of the other new customers experiencing a similar problem.

The explanation provided to me is that because I've placed a landline order in at the same time as the broadband one, their system's have started throwing a wobbler. It seems that because my landline migration is in progress with an activation date of 7th September, my Broadband order is unable to progress because I have to wait for the landline to migrate over before the MAC code will be accepted.

So I've been told to try my MAC Code again after my landline activation date, and then my Broadband order *should* progress and complete soon after.

To me this makes sense (to be honest the nice lady did a better job of explaining it than I have here) however I'm sure someone will come around and say this is complete and utter crap and not to believe a word of it. So until then I'm believing it!

Farewell O2

Well as of this evening I have started the migration process to move over to Sky. An evening of no internet and constant resyncing was the final nail in the coffin to a provider I lost my faith with when they bumped up the prices and introduced the new packages.

Tomorrow morning I shall be requesting my Mac code to provide to Sky to get the migration completed asap.

I could say it's been a pleasure O2, but with the way you've been treating customers lately I'll hold that back!

Maybe when you become a bit more reasonable I'll consider coming back, but to be honest there's probably more chance of flying pigs or hell freezing over!

Spencer may have already suggested this, but have you thought of developing a Mac version of JD's Auto Speedtester?
You could also stick it in the Mac App Store for a bit of exposure, and may be able to make a bit of money off it if you charge for it (only a small amount though, say 59p - £1.19)?

Yes guys, Broadband Helper has received some loving today, as I have given it a complete revamp and have upgraded the software that powers the site.

The new look is a lot sleeker and hopefully makes the site feel more modern and easy to use. As usual, comments and feedback are welcome in the relevant section of the forums.

As always, sections of the site will still look a little bit odd (the articles is an example), i'm still working on that so expect to see some oddities around the site, I'll update here once I've fully completed rolling out the new look.

Enjoy!

Re: Latest Update

RE: Latest Update V. 15.9

Firstly: A BIG THANKYOU, the first time it has loaded full screen at startup. I have not needed to resize it to how I like it.

Unfortunately there is a little gripe, which can probably be fixed easily. The AV Graph popup window does not display the same axis spacing as the main graph.
My Main windows auto sizes to Max 34,000 kbits where the popup sizes to the maximum reading of 32,924 kbits which means the data boxes at the top are rammed against the top line & become eligible.

So if it is possible to get the popup to mimick the main window axis that would make a brilliant program even better.

Sky Broadband - Home Business

Hello everyone. Right my questions is quite simple. I have been with SKY for the past years and now, Im about to setup a whole business at home. Therefore I will need to share my broadband with 2 other people for starters. Does any of you know about any kind of sky broadband deals towards home businesses. Please bare in mind I do not have the budget to actually get the proper "SKY business broadband" if you understand me. So, so far the only page I can find regarding sky is this one -> Broadband

Let me know as soon as possible.

COMPLETED: Notification of Site Downtime

This is an advance warning that Broadband Helper will be taken offline on Tuesday 5th July 2011 from 10:00 to allow our host to migrate our server to another datacentre in London (due to issues at it's current Datacentre).

We anticipate the the downtime will last around 3 to 4 hours, however this may take longer to due DNS propagation around the internet as we'll have to change our site's IP Addresses.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause to our users.
